5 Reasons to Love the Newly Reimagined Test Track

July 28, 2025
By

After being closed since June 2024, Test Track has finally reopened to the general public!  With new scenes and a new musical score, Test Track will have guests dreaming of the road to tomorrow.  Here’s what to look forward to the next time you hit the road on Test Track 3.0!

1. A Smoother Queue

The Test Track 2.0 queue used to include a design-your-own car area where you customized your own vehicle that would be tested and scored based on capability, efficiency, responsiveness, and power throughout the ride.  While some guests may have enjoyed the interactive and competitive element that this added to the attraction, it did slow down the crowd flow.  Now that the design room has been removed, the line moves more consistently.

2. A Look into New Technology

Car technology has changed quite a bit since Test Track was last refurbished in 2012, so the reimagined ride shifts gears to showcase more modern technology and ideas.  In the newest Test Track, guests can see how cars use cameras and sensors to “see” the road ahead.  In another scene, guests see possibilities for the future like smart roads that help keep electric vehicles powered up or new modes of vehicle customization.

3. More Interesting Scenes

The previous version of Test Track was a lot darker and focused more on testing guests’ car designs on the Sim-Track with scores displayed on screens throughout the ride.  The scenes in the latest iteration of the ride have more depth, particularly when guests are winding around and enjoying the open road.  The foliage and lighting effects transform the space into a cruise through a forest at sunset.

The best scene may be the futuristic city just before the outdoor portion of the ride.  Despite being screen-based, the scene completely envelopes the ride vehicles and makes guests feel like they have truly been transported to the future.

4. Old School EPCOT Vibes

EPCOT fans will enjoy the throwback to the EPCOT of the ’80s and ’90s.  The newest version of Test Track is inspired by the World of Motion attraction that once stood where Test Track is located.  From the “edu-tainment” aspect of teaching guests how new car technology works to the optimistic vision of the future with flying cars, Test Track 3.0 has the spirit of World of Motion.  As the new ride narration says, “the future is always just around the corner, and together we keep moving forward finding new ways to drive to a brighter tomorrow!”

5. The Same Thrilling Ending

Arguably the best part of the two previous versions of Test Track was the high speed joy ride outside of the building at the end of the ride.  Luckily, this is one part of the attraction that hasn’t changed at all.  Accelerating to 65 miles per hour, Test Track’s finale is just as exhilarating as guests remember!
