DVC Rentals: Should I List My Points or a Confirmed Reservation?

November 13, 2025
By

Renting points is a great way to make the most of your unused points.  However, how do you know whether it’s best to list your points or rent out a confirmed reservation?  Here are a few example scenarios that may help you decide which rental route to go.

You Have a Reservation You Can’t Use

A lot of DVC Members like to book their resort reservations at the 11-month mark to get the best room availability possible.  However, a lot can happen in those 11 months, and sometimes you find yourself with a reservation for a trip that no longer fits your schedule.  While you can choose to cancel your trip and put your points towards another trip, you can also consider renting out the reservation as is.  This would be a confirmed reservation.  This works especially well if you happen to have a reservation for a room that is in high demand like the Beach Club during an EPCOT festival.

You Know in Advance That You Won’t Be Planning a Disney Trip

If you have other travel plans for next year, don’t let those points go to waste!  If you know a year in advance that you won’t need those points, put them up for rent as soon as possible, so you can rent them out within the 7- to 11-month booking window.  That gives you a better chance of matching a Guest’s request, and it leads to a higher payoff rate for you.

Your Points Are Going to Expire Very Soon

When you are short on time, chances are you are going to find limited availability, which can make it more difficult to fulfill a pending Guest request.  While you could still try listing your points, you may be better off booking whatever you can find for those points and putting them up for rent as a confirmed reservation.  If priced right, a last minute trip can be an attractive offer to local Guests who don’t need to book flights.

Rent out your DVC points, and turn them into cash!  List your points, fulfill an open listing, or sell a confirmed reservation
