DVC Resorts for Fans of Disney Animated Films
DVC Resorts may not have the bold, over-the-top theming that the Value Resorts have, but they do offer subtle theming that is both fun and a bit more sophisticated. If you or someone in your travel party loves Disney’s animated films, here are some DVC resorts to consider for your next vacation!
Polynesian: Moana
While the original longhouses have Lilo and Stitch in the artwork, the Polynesian Island Tower is a great place for Moana fans to stay! The most obvious nod to the animated film is Moana’s Voyage, the splash pad featuring a life-size Moana statue and her canoe–a must-see for young Moana fans! While subtle, the decor in the villas also have hidden touches of the movie throughout the artwork. There’s the manta ray representing Gramma Tala above the dining room table and the beautiful artwork in the Murphy beds and pull-down beds. If you look closely at the 3-story mural in the lobby, you’ll even spot characters from Moana like Te Fiti, Maui, and Heihei!
Animal Kingdom Villas: The Lion King
Animal Kingdom Villas has always had subtle touches of The Lion King throughout its decor, and the latest full refurbishment has continued this theme. Kidani Village is undergoing refurbishment through May 2026 with Jambo House scheduled to start its refurbishment next. With the first of the completed rooms at Kidani now available to guests, you can see fun details such as the artwork on the new Murphy beds that feature characters like Rafiki, Nala, and Zazu or the artwork on the pull-down beds that feature Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa. Even with this renovation, you’ll still find original bedframes with Simba and Nala engraved on the headboard and dining room chairs with Mufasa engraved on the back.
In terms of common areas, Jambo House is home to Simba’s Cubhouse, which is similar to a community hall. The Lion King-themed center offers games and arts and crafts.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel: Disney Animated Films
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel is an ode to all Disney storytelling and is wonderfully themed for fans of Disney animated films! From Tinker Bell on the outside of the resort to the decor details within the villas, there is magic around every corner. The villas themselves are inspired by classic films like Jungle Book, Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, and Fantasia and more modern tales, such as Princess and the Frog, Moana, and Frozen. You’ll notice the films referenced in the rooms’ artwork, rugs, headboards, mirrors, and textiles.
Even the splash pad celebrates the iconic animated short, “Steamboat Willie”! Mickey Mouse is at the helm of the boat, which has a cascading waterfall, mist effects, water jets, and fountains. As the sun sets by the Palette Pool, you can watch as the “Steamboat Willie” splash pad changes from black and white to color with special lighting.
