Pros and Cons of One Bedroom DVC Villas
Room capacities and layouts can vary substantially from one DVC resort to the next. When traveling with a party of 4 or 5, a One Bedroom Villa can make more sense than a Studio, depending on the resort and the composition of your travel party. Let’s take a look at some pros and cons of staying in the One Bedroom Villas.
Pros
More Space and Amenities
The biggest pros to staying in a One Bedroom Villa are the larger space and additional amenities compared to a Studio. With a One Bedroom Villa, you get a full kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, oven, pots and pans, dishes, and utensils–everything you need to cook simple meals in your home away from home. There’s also a washer and dryer, which are great when traveling with kids or even when you prefer to pack light. For many guests, once they stay in a One Bedroom Villa, it’s hard to go back to a Studio.

More Privacy
Having a separate bedroom from the living room can offer more privacy when traveling with others. It can also be helpful when traveling with children who have an earlier bedtime.
Better Availability
Another benefit of choosing One Bedroom Villas is that they tend to have better availability than the Studios. With studios being worth the lowest number of points, they tend to book up first. One Bedroom Villas are typically easier to book, especially when you are looking to book something at the 7-month mark or under.
Cons
Limited Capacity in Some Resorts
In some of the DVC resorts, the One Bedroom Villas only sleep up to 4 guests. This includes Copper Creek, the Villas at Disneyland Hotel, and the Polynesian Island Tower. Then there are others like the BoardWalk, Beach Club, and Boulder Ridge that can accommodate a fifth guest, but no additional bedding or linens will be provided.
More Points Than Studios
The One Bedroom Villas cost more points per night than Studios. For example, at the Grand Floridian, a Resort or Deluxe Studio starts at 16 points per night and goes up to 54 points per night. By contrast a One Bedroom Villa at the Grand Floridian starts at 31 points per night and goes up to 89 points per night. In other words, it can take nearly twice as many points to stay in a One Bedroom as it does in a Studio.
Clunky Layout for Some
In some of the One Bedroom Villas, such as those at the BoardWalk, Beach Club, Boulder Ridge, and Saratoga Springs, the room layout can be a little odd with respect to the doors by the bathroom. To allow for greater privacy, the bathroom is split into two with a door in between. One side has a tub, sink, and closet, and the other has a sink, shower, and toilet. There is also a door connecting the bathroom to the bedroom and a door from the living room to the bathroom. However, it can feel a bit like a maze with so many doors.
