Renting your DVC points out is a great way to turn any unused points into cash! Here are some tips to keep the rental process as smooth as possible for you as the DVC Member.
Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute
Sometimes Members end up waiting until their points are close to expiring before they decide to rent them out. However, this can make renting more difficult. When it comes to renting out points, the sooner you can make them available the better. This helps ensure that room availability is best, which improves your odds of booking the right room to fulfill a guest request. In addition, renting your points out sooner helps you get a greater payout since the 7- to 11-month window offers a higher payout for Members.
Be Flexible
If you are highly motivated to rent out your DVC points, sometimes it helps to adjust the pricing. For example, lowering the price per point can make a confirmed reservation less costly and more enticing to guests. Check Emails for Any Guest Requests
Even after you have successfully sold a rental reservation, keep an eye on your email. From time to time, a Guest may have a request that you as the renting Member would need to help complete. For example, a Guest may need to make changes or additions to guest names, ask to make a room request, or wish to add the Disney Dining Plan. Checking your email regularly helps ensure that any of these types of requests are handled as quickly as possible.
Keep Dues Paid on Time
When you rent out your points, it’s important to ensure that your annual dues are paid on time. Besides penalties like losing the ability to bank or borrow Vacation Points, DVC can cancel all of your existing reservations if you are more than 90 days past due on annual dues. This could put any rental reservations at risk of being cancelled.
