Resort Refillable Mugs: Are They Worth it for DVC Resorts?

October 13, 2025
By

When you stay at a Disney resort, you can purchase a 16 oz. insulated Disney Rapid Fill Refillable Mug to get unlimited refills at the self-service beverage stations throughout your stay (up to 14 days)!  Here’s a look at how they work, where to refill them, and whether or not they are worth it for DVC stays.

How Much Are the Resort Refillable Mugs?

As of 2025, resort refillable mugs cost $22.99 plus tax.  You can purchase them at the quick service location of your resort.

If you purchase the Disney Dining Plan for your stay, it includes a resort refillable mug for each person.

What Kind of Drinks Are Included?

The unlimited refills include coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and fountain drinks, such as:

  • Coca-Cola
  • Diet Coke
  • Sprite
  • Powerade
  • Fanta
  • Minute Maid Lemonade

Although many soft drinks are included with the Rapid Fill program, milk and juice are not.

Where Can You Refill Your Mug?

While your mug is activated, you can refill it at any of the Disney resorts, including those you are visiting, so don’t forget to take your mug with you when resort hopping.

Among the DVC resorts, refillable mug locations include:

While you can take your mugs into the theme parks, you cannot refill them there.  They also do not work at the water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Worth It

At $22.99 per refillable mug and $4.79 per fountain beverage, you would need to purchase at least 5 soft drinks during your trip to break even.  Depending on the length of your stay and how much time you spend at the resort, this could be a good value.

Not Worth It

You’ll find that it’s easier to use refillable mugs at some resorts than others based on the locations and hours of the refill stations.  For example, at Old Key West refills are available at Good’s Food to Go and Turtle Shack Poolside Snacks.  However, depending on the building you are staying in, those locations may not be very convenient for such a sprawling resort.

Also, none of the DVC resorts have refill stations that are available 24 hours a day.  Most close by 10pm or 11pm, so if you return after a late night in the parks, you will not be able to refill your mug.

Helpful Tips

  • If you have a split stay, you don’t need to purchase a new mug for each leg of your trip since your mug can work at any Disney resort.
  • When combining Disney World stays with Vero Beach or Hilton Head, if you’re still within 14 days of initially activating your mug, it can work for both parts of your split stay!
  • At Aulani, there are small mugs (14 oz.) for $25 and large stainless steel mugs (22 oz.) for $38.
  • The mugs have RFID chips that are activated when you purchase them.  These chips track when your mug is valid for refills.  When you fill your mug, you won’t be able to refill it again for a few minutes.
  • Primo Piatto at Riviera, Beach Club Marketplace, the Island Tower at the Polynesian, and Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian have Coca-Cola Freestyle machines that offer a wider variety of soft drink options.
  • For a more economical alternative to the refillable mugs, you can order groceries to be delivered to your DVC villa.  After all, you have a full size refrigerator in the One Bedroom Villas or larger units and mini fridges or beverage coolers in the Studios.
