Tips for Easy Resort Hopping
There’s more to a Disney World vacation than just the theme parks! Whether you’re looking for a more restful day or some of the best dining that Disney World has to offer, be sure to visit the resorts. If resort hopping is part of the itinerary for your next Disney World trip, here are some tips for getting around.
Focus on One Mode of Transportation
Sticking with one mode of transportation just keeps things simple and free of any time-consuming transfers. The most well-known route, the monorail crawl, typically involves stopping at each of the monorail resorts for a drink, but sometimes when you’re resort hopping it’s just as much fun to grab a bite to eat or explore the fun details and theming unique to each resort.
Here are some of the resorts you can visit along the various transportation routes:
Monorail
- Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower
- Grand Floridian
- Polynesian
Skyliner
- Riviera
- Caribbean Beach
- Pop Century
- Art of Animation
Friendship Boats
- Beach Club
- Yacht Club
- BoardWalk
- Swan and Dolphin
Blue Flag Water Taxis
- Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower
- Wilderness Lodge
- Fort Wilderness
Use the Theme Park Bus Stops
Even if you aren’t going into a theme park, you could still go to a theme park bus stop and use it as a kind of hub to get around. This gives you the widest option of resorts to visit and offers you a direct route to hop to resorts that aren’t all that close by. For example, when staying at the BoardWalk you’re within walking distance of the Hollywood Studios bus stop. If you had a dining reservation at Boma, you could take a bus from Hollywood Studios to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
If staying at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs, you’re close enough to Disney Springs that you could consider using the Disney Springs bus stop to help resort hop.
Don’t Forget About the TTC
The Transportation and Ticket Center may not be everyone’s favorite stop, but it’s a good starting point if you’re looking to travel via the monorail and you’re not staying at a resort on the loop. It’s especially convenient for any Florida locals who want to resort hop since you can’t park at a resort without a dining reservation or resort reservation.
