What to Do if You Lose Something at Disney World
When you’re wrapped up in the fun of a Disney World vacation, it’s easy to lose track of time and unfortunately sometimes even your belongings. If that happens, don’t panic if you can’t find it after retracing your steps. Disney has a process in place to help you reclaim your item. Whether you lose it at the resorts, theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, Disney transportation, or ESPN Wide World of Sports, here’s what you can do.
Fill Out the Online Form
Disney uses Chargerback to help track lost and found items. To get started, fill out the online form. You’ll share where you lost your item, the type of item, the date it was lost, where it was last seen, and your contact info. There’s also a place to add any details that can help distinguish it from other similar-looking items.
Keep An Eye on Your Email
Once you fill out the form, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a lost report ID within 48 hours. While the cast members look for your lost item, you’ll get updates. Whether your item is found or not, you’ll then receive a final update.
Select How You Would Like to Have Your Item Returned
If your item is found, you’ll get an email asking how you would like to have it returned. You can either ask to have your item held for pick up or have it shipped back to you at the address you provided when completing the form. For example, an item found at the BoardWalk could be picked up by visiting the resort’s front desk. An item at Magic Kingdom could be picked up from the Chamber of Commerce. If you opt to have your item shipped back, it may not ship out until the next business day.
Tips to Avoid Losing Items on Vacation
- Look back when leaving a location, whether it’s a resort room or a bus, to make sure nothing is left behind.
- Before checking out, do a sweep of the room. Take a look in the bathroom, and open the drawers, closet, fridge, etc. to make sure nothing was accidentally left inside.
- Check your packing list. If you like using packing lists while preparing for your trip, it can double as a checklist to ensure you packed up everything as you prepare to check out.
- Make use of electronic tracking, such as the Find My app for Apple devices.
- Use toy straps to keep items from falling out of your stroller. They work for toys as well as sippy cups, snack cups, and pretty much any item with a spot to loop around a strap.
- Use a slider to keep your MagicBand in place. This way, it can’t easily pop off your wrist.
- Don’t take anything too valuable on your trip, be it monetarily valuable or sentimentally valuable.
