What to Expect with the Bay Lake Tower Refurbishment

About every 14 years, DVC resorts undergo a full refurbishment.  With Bay Lake Tower having opened in 2009, it’s time for its renovation.  Here’s when the construction will take place and the possible impact it can have on your upcoming trip.

Refurbishment Timeline

According to the Walt Disney World website, the refurbishment will begin September 2024 and is expected to continue through September 2025.

Impact on Room Availability

Bay Lake Tower will still be available to guests throughout the construction.  However, rooms will be taken out of inventory, typically in sections at a time.  With sections of rooms becoming unavailable, this means that it may be harder to book Bay Lake Tower during that time.

Impact on Guests

Guests who do stay at Bay Lake Tower during the refurbishment will likely see and hear the construction.  There may also be some detours in the resort as sections are closed off, and Disney’s website notes that guests should “allow extra time for travel as alternate paths may be utilized.”

Expected Room Updates 

Since this will be a hard goods refurbishment, guests can look forward to all new floors, furniture, appliances, and decor.  Recent DVC resort refurbishments have included hard floors in place of carpeting, smart TVs, USB ports, additional outlets, and the more comfortable Murphy beds in place of the sofa beds. The renovated villas at Bay Lake Tower will likely have these features as well.
